Continuous mechanical extract ventilation
Domestic Ventilation Compliance Guide, 2010 Edition (with 2011 amendments), published by the Department for Communities and Local Government in July 2011, defines continuous mechanical extract ventilation (MEV) as: ‘… a ventilation system comprising a central ducted continuously running extract fan (or a set of local continuously running extract fans in the wet rooms for de-centralised systems), air being supplied via background ventilators into the habitable rooms.’
Approved Document F Volume 1, 2021 edition, defines continuous mechanical extract ventilation as: ‘Mechanically driven ventilation that continuously extracts indoor air and discharges it to the outside.’
